The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in collaboration with america’ Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested 16 yahoo boys, cybercrime suspects since the joint operation code-named, Operation Wire Wire, was launched.
Ibrahim Magu, the acting Chairman of the EFCC, stated this on Friday whereas hosting the Chairman, Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in his office in Abuja.
He vowed to identify and convey the suspects to justice, including that following the onslaught and intensified raids on their hideouts by the EFCC, they relocated to Ghana.
He stated: “It is extremely sad. It’s just like the era of those 419ners and ‘Yahoo Boys’ is coming back.
“I keep in mind we labored with the FBI in Lagos and others. We carried out ‘Operation Wire Wire’. We’re re-energizing; we’ll exit and storm all their hideouts. Most of them have relocated to Ghana because the warmth is on them.”
He pledged the readiness of the fee to sustain the ongoing collaboration with related agencies, with a view to curbing the menace of cybercrimes.
